Blog 16/52: Are Lifestyle Diseases Preventable?2 min read

Blog 16/52

There is a general belief that if heart diseases or diabetes or obesity runs in the family, it is genetic, and you will get it to. While the tendency may be there, it is not entirely true in the sense you can proactively take steps to avoid such lifestyle diseases.

Epigenetics says you can upgrade your DNA with some simple lifestyle changes. You can change your internal system by changing your breathing for example. Or by changing your thinking pattern into being more positive. Being positive allows your brain to calm down instead of stressing out while dealing with challenges.

The environment around you may or may-not change. The quality of air may still be bad, the commute to work may still be ridden by traffic, there may still be uncertainty and chaos at work and there will be a bag full of domestic issues awaiting you to resolve it at home.

In-spite of all of these, try taking a pause and a deep slow breath. Stress is known to increase the acidic levels within your body causing lifestyle diseases ranging from bloating and digestive issues, to arthritis, diabetes, renal conditions and respiratory issues. Deep slow breathing makes your body alkaline, which is needed to maintain an optimum body pH level for good health.
