Blog 22/52: List of 5 Every Night

Monday Blog 22/52: Spend 10 minutes every night planning your next day, checking your meetings/appointments for the next day, going over your To-Do list and sorting them in order of priority and importance, weeding away the ones that are not so important. (Yes, many people, me included, like to spend time doing things that are not that important and then rushing through the things that are actually important and more relevant). Make sure to add in the boring but must-get-done stuff like running errands or fixing the clogged sink. You can take it to the next level by even deciding and setting aside your clothes, your children’s schedule and homework, the meal plan list for the next day perhaps. 

At the end of that day, maybe your plan was over ambitious and you could only finish 60% from your plan. It does not matter. What matters most is your attention and awareness towards the things in your life you consider important, and whether you prioritize them or not. It will also help your next day seem a little less stressed and a bit more under your control.

· Get up and wear your gym clothes before your tea, this will increase the chances of you going to the gym or doing your yoga or your morning walk

· Starting with 5 Jumping Jacks before your bath will help you cultivate a habit towards fitness

· Avoiding second helpings in any meal will make you mindful of what you eat

· Keeping sticky notepad and pencil on your breakfast table will help you scribble your focus and prioritize on your task and chores for the day.

· Sharing your goals with your partner and friends will motivate you to follow through the goals.

· Keeping scented candle, a lighter, some books and gratitude journal on your bedside instead of your iPad and phone will help improve your sleep pattern.

Fun Brain Exercise

Doing things differently is a great way to exercise the brain. In other words, it is good brain gym! Here are some fun and out of the box ways to keep our brain going:

Brush your teeth with the non dominant hand.

If you are used to a clean work desk or clean kitchen, then try working with a messy desk and a messy kitchen. Your are wiring and firing new areas of your brains by doing this.

Write Z to A. It is a good way to kick start some dormant areas of your brain. 

Do puzzles like word search or Sudoku…

Repeat tongue twisters!

Practice writing with both your hands.
Attempt to learn a new language!

Blog 19/52: Procrastination

You have an important presentation coming up tomorrow and you have to prepare for it today morning. You look at all the material and then put it away, thinking you will handle it after reading the emails first…then after the team meeting…then you get distracted by the funny WhatsApp message and soon it is evening and you are stressing out. You go home and you have to watching that addictive serial. Sounds familiar?

Why do people procrastinate? It has been researched that stress caused from work and not the pending work itself is the cause of procrastination. And you procrastinate to give your brain a relief from that stress.  Stress caused from fear. Fear of failure perhaps. What if my presentation is not good enough, what if the boss is not happy with it…  Handling the stress by focusing on time management or following easy brain hacks like 3-3-6 breathing, positive visualization helps handle stress and increases your self-esteem. Notice the procrastination dissolve away.

Work from home is a pretty old concept, but it has been revamped in beautiful new and innovative ways due to the lockdown. Everyone is working from home these days and coming up with more ideas and zeal. Here some handy tips to increase productivity when working from home:

Find your space: Decide upon a spot that truly nurtures your efficiency and gives you the required attention span and concentration to work

Decorate your office space: Decorating is a fun and vibrant way to keep up your morale and fill your space is positivity and liveliness, so you can concentrate better.

Maintain a routine: Work from home can be tricky sometimes due to the distractions in the house . Having a set routine can help one to focus better.
